Another day in the 80s

Cooler-than-average temperatures continue

If you like mild temperatures and sunny skies, you’ll like today’s weather forecast.

“More sunshine will last into the afternoon as the temperature heads into the 80s,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “It looks like a pleasant day. Those humidity levels will be kind of low.”

Schack said today’s high temperature will climb to 87 degrees. The average high temperature for this date is 88 degrees. The record high was 107 degrees, set in 1980.

At 8:50 a.m., Lawrence Municipal Airport’s temperature was 63 degrees, the humidity was 81 percent and winds were out of the northwest at 3 mph.

This morning’s low was 56 degrees. The average low temperature for this date is 68 degrees. The record low was 52 degrees, set in 1968.

“Keep open the windows tonight and again tomorrow,” Schack said.

Overnight, temperatures will fall to a low of 58 degrees by Wednesday morning, with Wednesday’s high climbing to 89 degrees, Schack said.

She said there was a very slight chance for scattered storms on Wednesday evening.

Thursday’s morning low will be 61 degrees. Thursday’s high will be 89 degrees, with scattered clouds, she said.
