From the Lawrence Daily World of June 19, 1906: “The official assessor returns show the population of Lawrence to be 12,123, an increase of 4.5. The population of the county is 25,349, an increase of 240 over the past year. Every township shows a decrease in population and everytown an increase with the exception of Eudora, which has lost 4. : The lawsuits against Standard Oil continue to be filed in Kansas City and the latest is by a former employee of Standard claiming discriminatory rates. : Two men charged with the robbery of Wolfson’s pawn shop two months ago were brought before Justice Phillips of Grant Township and are bound over to the November term of district court. Bond in each case was set at $800 and both remain in custody. : A photographer was given a judgment of $15 for his claim that the Sigma Nu fraternity failed to pay him sufficiently for ‘frat’ pictures.”
