Sunflower Broadband conducts Safety Rodeo

Sunflower Broadband conducted its third annual Field Safety Rodeo on Thursday in Lawrence, educating all 53 members of the company’s field operations team about policies and procedures designed to keep them and others safe.

Employees received instruction in vehicle occupant safety, storm safety, field safety, nature’s hazards, safe-driving techniques and the company’s vehicle-backing policy.

Fleet vehicles also were inspected. All on-board fire extinguishers and first-aid kits were checked and, when necessary, brought up to date.

Separate professional inspections of all of the company’s bucket trucks and fiberglass ladders also were conducted, ensuring that work done aloft can be accomplished with equipment that is as safe as possible, said Patrick Knorr, Sunflower’s general manager.

Sunflower Broadband is a division of The World Company, which also owns the Journal-World.
