Richard, Farley named to golf hall

Manhattan’s Deb Richard and the late Frank Farley are the latest additions to the Kansas Golf Hall of Fame.

Richard, a former college and pro standout, and Farley, a noted golf architect from Kansas City, Kan., were named Friday by the Lawrence-based Kansas Golf Foundation.

Richard was the U.S. Amateur champion in 1984 and runner-up in the 1985 NCAA championships while competing for Florida University.

From 1979-81, Richard won three state prep championships while at Manhattan High. She also earned back-to-back Kansas Amateur titles in 1982-83.

Later, on the LPGA Tour, Richard won five events and earned more than $2 million.

Farley, who died in 2005, designed or remodeled more than 100 golf courses in Kansas and four other surrounding states. Among the courses Farley worked on are Overland Park Milburn CC and Overland Park Municipal.

The Kansas Golf Hall of Fame, founded in 1991, now has 31 members.
