FCE and 4-H news

Douglas County Family and Community Education in cooperation with K-State Research and Extension Family and Consumer Sciences is offering a program “Food Bloopers” at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Deal Six Auditorium at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St.

The program will be presented by Jan Hornberger, Douglas County volunteer; and Aliene Bieber, Kanwaka FCE member.

The lesson will help cooks understand those bloopers that often happen in the kitchen. There will be a sampling of good products. A minimal fee will be charged.

To register, call the Extension office at 843-7058. The program is open to the public.

Vinland Family and Community Education unit will meet at noon Tuesday for a luncheon at the home of Kayellen Hess. Co-hostess is Genieva McTaggart. The program will be “Show Me the Power of Healing Foods.”

Emily Morehouse and Kjrsten Abel Ruch have joined Douglas County Extension. Morehouse is the new 4-H youth development agent, and Abel Ruch is the 4-H program coordinator.

A reception will be given for them from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Extension office, 2110 Harper St.
