Memorial scheduled for Costa Rica drownings

A memorial service has been scheduled for three Kansas teenagers and a missing teacher who were swept out to sea during a weekend swimming accident off Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast.

The service begins at 6 p.m. today at Municipal Auditorium in Parsons.

The bodies of the three Labette County High School students, 17-year-old Jessica Pierce, 18-year-old Danielle Tongier and 17-year-old Andrew Harpstrite, have been found. Still missing is Brett Carlson, 26, a Spanish teacher at the high school in Altamont.
