Halladay goes the distance

? Roy Halladay pitched a six-hitter to win his seventh straight decision and the Toronto Blue Jays ended a three-game losing streak with a 7-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.

Halladay (8-1) pitched his third complete game of the season and 23rd of his career. The 2003 AL Cy Young Award winner allowed just one run, while striking out three and walking one. He’s walked just one batter in his last five starts.

New York – Chien-Ming Wang shut down the Indians’ powerful lineup, Robinson Cano homered off hard-luck loser Paul Byrd, and the Yankees stopped their four-game slide.

Tigers 7, Devil Rays 1

Detroit – Kenny Rogers earned the 199th victory of his career, leading the Tigers to their fourth straight win.

Twins 5, Red Sox 2, 12 inn.

Minneapolis – Rookie Jason Kubel hit a grand slam in the 12th inning off Julian Tavarez to give Minnesota the victory.

Curt Schilling and Johan Santana dueled for eight innings.

Athletics 2, Mariners 0

Oakland, Calif. – Joe Blanton pitched into the ninth, and Jay Payton homered to help the Athletics win their fifth straight game.

White Sox 5, Rangers 2

Arlington, Texas – Paul Konerko broke a tie with a three-run homer in the sixth. Bobby Jenks got three outs for his 19th save in 20 chances.
