Parts of Wakarusa Drive will be closed for two hours Wednesday morning for construction work, which will affect motorists and those who ride the T, Lawrence city officials announced today.

The northbound lanes of Wakarusa, from Harvard Road to Sixth Street, will be closed from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. while the south leg of the Sixth Street and Wakarusa Drive intersection is repaired by a Kansas Department of Transportation contractor.

While the street is closed, all northbound traffic on Wakarusa will be detoured at Harvard Road to the west to Congressional Drive.

The southbound lanes of Wakarusa will continue to be open.

During the closure, the Lawrence Transit System Route 6 Clockwise will follow the detour on Congressional Drive.

Passengers who want to catch Route 6 Clockwise between Harvard Road and Sixth Street will need to catch the bus on the north side of Harvard Road before Congressional Drive or the east side of Wakarusa Drive between Sixth and Overland Drive.
