Douglas County Commissioner Charles Jones is going unchallenged in his re-election bid this fall for a third, four-year term.

Jones, a Democrat, was the only person who had filed for the position when the candidate filing deadline ended at noon today, according to the Douglas County Clerk’s office.

The primary election is Aug. 1 and the general election is Nov. 7.

Jones, 54, will be the only candidate on the ballot for the 1st District seat on the three-member commission. The other two seats are not up for re-election this year.

The 1st District consists entirely of precincts within the city limits of Lawrence.
