Jones unchallenged in re-election bid

Incumbent alone on ballot for Douglas County’s 1st District commission seat

June 12, 2006

Douglas County Commissioner Charles Jones is going unchallenged in his re-election bid this fall for a third, four-year term.

Jones, a Democrat, was the only person who had filed for the position when the candidate filing deadline ended at noon today, according to the Douglas County Clerk's office.

The primary election is Aug. 1 and the general election is Nov. 7.

Jones, 54, will be the only candidate on the ballot for the 1st District seat on the three-member commission. The other two seats are not up for re-election this year.

The 1st District consists entirely of precincts within the city limits of Lawrence.

Hey all you right wingnuts pro-wetlands SLT wackos--where where ya? No one stepped up to the plate to be on the commission that likely has the most say of any local governing body on the SLT. All you nuts are all talk and no action. Sheet, put up the application fee, call yourself a mod pub, and you coulda won this election! But nahh, it's easier to whine "anonymously." Money talks...

Money talks...."

Seriously. I was so busy busting a butt to earn a living, unlike a college prof who has the summer off, that I didn't even notice the deadline was looming......

This guy has two tenured government jobs.

So, Mr. Anonymous Godot, what do you bust your butt at? I'm calling you out, because you brought it up. Waiting for you....(heh heh)....

I just renewed my CPR, in case you need assistance...

So Godot, you must be a assistant manager at a fast food restaurant, working for CLO, or an officer for the LPD.

All noble professions, and they all pay enough to give you some scratch to file for CO COMM, and in all three positions, you coulda filed while you were on the clock! No need for double tenure!

Godot 12 years ago

Ah, Mike, while I coulda filed on my smoke break, I couldn't compete with the prof, who doesn't clock in. He beat me, again, and again. I'm slave to the clock, can't run for the electorate, have to clean up afer the common man, his puke, his expectorate.

You know what I mean, you know what I feel, I have no time, I'm not the wheel.

So sad... another F-ing liberal retains his seat in Lawrence. We need to run them out of town if we ever want to get a thing done in this town and county.

You don't need anyone's help, Marion. Just do like you do here, and vote early, and vote often.
