Library organizes coin-collecting seminar
Novice numismatists and those just thinking about starting a coin collection are encouraged to attend “Introduction to Coin Collecting” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt.
Presenter David Baldwin will talk about collecting and investing in U.S. coins and related numismatic items, including what to collect, where to find pieces, how to store and preserve items, what not to collect, resource materials and investing versus collecting. Participants are welcome to bring items in for identification, but no appraisals will be done, and no coins will be bought or sold.
Baldwin, who has collected coins for 35 years, is a member of the American Numismatic Society and the Token and Medals Collectors Society. He is a member and past president of the Lawrence Coin Club and Manhattan Coin Club.
The program is intended for adults and children 10 and older. It is free and open to the public.
