Eight second-year Webelos from Cub Scout Pack 3065 were given the Arrow of Light during Webelos Graduation Weekend, which was May 12-14 at Spring Creek Park. The Arrow of Light is Cub Scouting’s highest award and is one of two Cub Scouting awards that may be worn on the Boy Scout uniform.

Webelos who “bridged” from Cub to Boy Scouting were Steven Beegle, Willie Cowley, Ben Foster, Zach Garrett, Nick Hagen, Mac Halpin, Royce Harrison and Austin Kraus. With the addition of the new Scouts, Troop 65’s membership has climbed to a record high of 40, nearly bringing the troop to capacity.

The new Scouts formed their own patrol, the Flaming Arrows. This patrol joins the troop’s Lancers (Venture), Thundering Buffalos, Badgers, Penguins and Squirrels.

Webelos Graduation Weekend is the only joint campout during the year held by Troop 65 and Pack 3065. Members participated in activities that included nature trail, cooking, cooking contest, knot tying, first aid and fire building.

Following a potluck supper, Pack 3065 had its Court of Honor on the western shore of the Old City Lake, while Troop 65 had its Court of Honor at its newly established Old Lake Council Ring on the east side.

Other Scouts who received awards and recognition during the Troop’s Court of Honor were Callan Anderson, Tenderfoot Rank, rifle and shot gun merit badges, six blue beads, and six green beads; Brandon Baltzell, 24-month camping award patch; Alex Coffey, Junior Leadership Training and five-year service star; Keenan Coffey, First Class Rank, shotgun merit badge, four black beads and four blue beads, and Junior Leadership Training completion; Justin Cook, shotgun and rifle merit badges, two black beads and two green beads; Patrick Dietz, First Class Rank, four black beads and two blue beads, and 24-month camping award patch; Ryan Hundley, one-year service star and four black beads; Andrew Morgan, Second Class Rank, rifle merit badge, one-year service star, six blue beads and two green beads; Sam Richards, rifle and shot gun merit badges, four black beads and four blue beads; Kirsten Shuck, completion of Eagle Rank requirements and Junior Leadership Training, four black beads and four blue beads; Colby Soden, rifle and shotgun merit badges, four black beads, six blue beads and two green beads; and Evan Wilson, five-year service star, four blue beads, and Junior Leadership Training completion.
