Former Kansas University basketball forward Wayne Simien of the Miami Heat has been hit hard by the flu bug this week and was unable to make the trip to Dallas for Game One of The NBA Finals.

Simien had missed the last two practice sessions, but hoped to catch a flight to Dallas in time for Thursday night’s game. But he was too sick to make the trip, team officials said. Several Heat players, including Dwayne Wade, have been weakened by illness the last week or so.
