Heading into the 90s

More hot weather on the way

It’s a great day to hang out by the pool, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“Temperatures will be very warm as we head into the low 90s,” Schack said. “We’ll keep the skies mostly clear today.”

At 7:15 a.m., Lawrence Municipal Airport’s temperature was 59 degrees, the humidity was 90 percent and winds were out of the northwest at 5 mph.

“It’s a beautiful spring morning, with the temperature below average,” Schack said.

This morning’s low temperature was 57 degrees. The average low temperature for this date is 63 degrees. The record low was 46 degrees, set in 1912.

Schack said today’s temperature will climb to 91 degrees, with northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

The average high temperature for this date is 84 degrees. The record high was 99 degrees, set in 1934.

“It’s very warm for the midweek,” Schack said. Skies will continue to be clear for the overnight, with the low dropping off to 62 degrees by Thursday morning, she said.

Thursday’s high will climb to 93 degrees, with south winds at 7 to 15 mph, she said.

Friday’s morning low will start at 69 degrees and will climb to 97 degrees, Schack said.

“It will be hot,” she said.
