Raiders move to 3-0 in Omaha

? The Lawrence Raiders continued their undefeated start, coming out on top in a pitchers’ duel Sunday. The Raiders topped Nebraska state champion Omaha Westside, 3-1.

Lawrence High’s Nick Madl paced the Raiders offensively, going 3-for-3 with a double.

“Their pitcher did an outstanding job keeping us off-balance,” Raiders coach Troy Wingert said. “It took us a few innings to adjust.”

Free State High’s Scott Heitshusen earned the win, while Lawrence High’s Daniel Green earned his first save.

“Scott and Daniel gave us outstanding outings,” Wingert said. “I was very pleased with Daniel’s first outing of the year.”

The Raiders improved to 3-0 and travel to Manhattan for a nine-inning game Wednesday.
