“It’s a dry start with clear skies,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “Temperatures will be heading into the mid 80s.”
Schack said today’s high will climb to 86 degrees, with mostly sunny skies. The average high temperature for this date is 82 degrees. The record high was 98 degrees, set in 1911.
At 7:30 a.m., Lawrence Municipal Airport’s temperature was 61 degrees, the humidity was 90 percent and winds were out of the northwest at 8 mph. The average low temperature for this date is 61 degrees. The record low was 45 degrees, set in 1969.
Saturday’s morning low temperature will be 59 degrees, with the high climbing to 89 degrees by Saturday afternoon, Schack said.
A few more clouds are moving in on Saturday, she said.
The National Weather Service says there is a 20 percent chance for thunderstorms on Saturday night and a 20 percent chance for Sunday.
Schack said Sunday’s morning low will be 64 degrees and Sunday’s high will reach 91 degrees, with the chance for isolated morning storms and partly cloudy skies.
