Lawrence resident leads retiree group

Lawrence resident John Surritte recently was elected president of the Kansas Federation of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Assn. during the organization’s state convention in Wichita.

Surritte also serves as the state organization’s national legislative chair, and has been the group’s first vice president for the past two years. His wife, Linda Surritte, serves as the state organization’s Alzheimer’s chair.

John Surritte retired in 2000 as a finance executive for the U.S. Postal Service.

The organization represents more than 23,000 federal retirees in Kansas.
