¢ Roberts Tourney Titlist: Conrad Roberts shot a 2-under-par 70 and won Sunday’s Jayhawk Golf Club tournament at Alvamar by three strokes over Chad Roesler and four shots over Van Reichert. Chris Anderson was fourth with a 75. In net scoring, Kent Beisner was low with a 68, followed by Jeff Miller 69, John Charnes 70 and Richard Brown 70.

¢ Jewett Hole-in-One: Vicki Jewett used a pitching wedge to ace the 88-yard No. 3 hole Saturday at Eagle Bend GC. Witnesses were Karen Koehler, Mike Koehler and Gill Jewett.

¢ Eagle Bend Youth League: Eagle Bend Junior Golf League will begin at 1 p.m. Monday for youths ages 12-17. Openings remain. For information, call John Morris or Daniel Brumley at 748-0600.

¢ Volleyball Nationals: Lawrence’s Jessica Scott, Kelsey Harrison and Kristen Karlin are members of the Topeka Juniors team that will compete in the National Open Volleyball Tournament over the Fourth of July weekend in Atlanta. Scott, Harrison and Karlin all will be seniors at Free State High this fall.

¢ Baker track and field: Three members of Baker University’s track and field team placed over the weekend at the NAIA Outdoor Championships in Fresno, Calif. Brent Randle, a sophomore from Dallas, finished third in the triple jump with a school-record 50-63â4 mark. Brett Weir, a senior from Topeka, placed sixth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.46. Weir, a biology major, also was named an NAIA track and field scholar-athlete. Brandon Hubbard, a junior from Hutchinson, placed eighth in the 100-meter dash in 10.82.

¢ Orchards Ace: Wang-Chuan Chang used an 8-iron to record a hole-in-one on the 105-yard sixth hole Sunday at the Orchards Golf Course. Adrian Tang witnessed the ace.

¢ Thompson Run Winners: Four Lawrence-area runners won age-group awards at the Amy Thompson Run on Monday in Kansas City, Mo. In the 8K race, Jodie Smith won women’s 20-24, Diane Waltho won womens’ 50-54 and Dee Boeck claimed the women’s 50-59. Joe Oberzan won the men’s 60-64 5K. Tonganoxie’s Wally Brawner won men’s 65-plus 8K.

¢ Riley Awards: Justin Riley, a graduating senior from Grinnell College, recently received two prestigious awards – the Dick Gilbert ’81 Memorial Award for the Outstanding Athlete in Sportsmanship and Leadership in Cross Country and Track, and the James Walter Rosenfield Scholarship, which was given to help reduce his Federal Stafford Loan.
