Pamela Anderson, Kid Rock wed in St. Tropez, France

Los Angeles – She was once Pamela Anderson Lee. Now actress Pamela Anderson is Mrs. Kid Rock.

The former “Baywatch” babe wed the rock star Saturday in St. Tropez, France, Anderson’s spokeswoman, Ann Gurrola, told The Associated Press. She said more details on the wedding would be available Monday.

Anderson, 39, and Kid Rock, 35, were engaged in Las Vegas in 2002 but split up the following year.

The two were photographed together earlier this month in St. Tropez, and two weeks ago, Anderson wrote in her online diary that she was “in love” and planning to marry again.

“I’m happy,” she wrote. “I see the light. Sounds dramatic but it’s true.”

Anderson and her first husband, rock star Tommy Lee, divorced in 1998 after three years of marriage. They have two sons, Brandon, 10, and Dylan, 8.

Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, has a 13-year-old son, Bob Jr.

Mel Gibson apologizes for DUI arrest, ‘despicable’ remarks

Los Angeles – Mel Gibson issued a lengthy statement Saturday apologizing for his drunken driving arrest and saying he has battled alcoholism throughout his life.

Gibson also apologized for what he said were “despicable” statements he made to the deputies who arrested him early Friday morning on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

“I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested,” he said in a statement issued by his publicist. “I disgraced myself and my family with my behavior and for that I am truly sorry. I have battled with the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life and profoundly regret my horrific relapse.”

Publicist Alan Nierob declined to elaborate beyond the statement.

Gibson, 50, was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol after deputies stopped his 2006 Lexus LS 430 for speeding. Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said deputies clocked him doing 87 mph in a 45 mph zone.

A breath test indicated Gibson’s blood-alcohol level was 0.12 percent, Whitmore said. The legal limit in California is 0.08 percent.

The actor was released early Friday after posting $5,000 bail.

Paul McCartney reportedly files for divorce, blames wife

London – Paul McCartney has filed for divorce from Heather Mills McCartney, formally beginning proceedings in what could be one of Britain’s most expensive breakups, newspapers reported Saturday.

The 64-year-old former Beatle blamed his estranged wife for the split, saying her behavior was unreasonable and argumentative, The Sun and The Daily Mirror reported.

Her spokesman, Phil Hall, said she was unhappy about the reports. “Heather’s going to be filing her own counterclaims about matters both in this country and America,” Hall said in a statement.

“She is hugely disappointed that matters of such a confidential nature should be aired in public and feels it is inappropriate to speak about such delicate matters when a child is involved.”

The couple have a 2-year-old daughter, Beatrice.

McCartney’s publicist Stuart Bell told The Associated Press he could not confirm that his client had filed divorce papers or comment on the content of any legal documents.

McCartney, who does not have a prenuptial agreement to protect his estimated $1.5 billion fortune, has hired attorney Fiona Shackleton, who represented Prince Charles in his divorce from Princess Diana.

Studio executive scolds Lohan for behavior, doubts claim

Los Angeles – A studio executive scolded Lindsay Lohan in a letter for her behavior on a movie set and doubted her absence was related to heat exhaustion.

James G. Robinson, chief executive officer of Morgan Creek Productions, sent the letter dated July 26 to the 20-year-old actress, as well as agents, producers and others involved in the film.

Lohan’s publicist told the syndicated entertainment show “The Insider” on Tuesday that her client was taken to a hospital for treatment of overheating and dehydration. Lohan had been filming “Georgia Rule” in 105-degree weather for 12 hours that day, spokeswoman Leslie Sloan Zelnick said.

Robinson didn’t buy the excuse.

“You and your representatives have told us that your various late arrivals and absences from the set have been the result of illness; today we were told it was ‘heat exhaustion.’ We are well aware that your ongoing all night heavy partying is the real reason for your so-called ‘exhaustion,”‘ Robinson wrote in the letter posted Friday on TheSmokingGun.com.

The letter was authenticated by a spokesman for Morgan Creek, according to the Web site and the Los Angeles Times.
