Fireworks celebrate housing subdivision

July 30, 2006

The fireworks that boomed in west Lawrence Saturday night were part of a grand-opening celebration for Lake View Villas at Alvamar - a new housing subdivision.

The fireworks display began about 9:20 p.m. as part of the celebration to show off the new homes in the area of 2250 Lake Pointe Drive, a spokesman for the Lake View Villas said. The company had a permit for the fireworks, he said.

The subdivision where the fireworks were held isn't a "rich" neighborhood. Those previously commenting obviously don't know what they are talking about and are simply jumping to conclusions. Those homes where the fireworks were held are 1,080 sq. ft. and up and are priced for the "not so rich" to be able to retire or live in a maintenance provided community. They followed city procedures to properly get a fireworks permit and invited the public to watch it for free. What is there to complain about? I stopped by their open house and really enjoyed what they had to offer! I would love to live there, fireworks or not.
