Floods wash away military barracks

? Floodwaters rushing down a mountain in south China washed away military barracks, leaving six dead and another 38 people missing, the official Xinhua News Agency said Thursday.

The torrent was triggered Wednesday in Jiangxi province, where Tropical Storm Kaemi brought heavy rains and winds, Xinhua said.

It wasn’t clear whether the deaths from the military incident were included in the overall toll of nine dead since Kaemi made landfall in southern China on Tuesday.

Chinese President Hu Jintao, also head of the Central Military Commission, ordered “prompt and all-out efforts” to search for the missing, Xinhua said.
