Old Home Town – 25 years ago

Heavy thunderstorms drenched Lawrence and all of northeast Kansas overnight with up to 8 inches of rain recorded in some spots. The storm caused flash flooding and sent many creeks beyond their banks. Roads were closed and some families were forced from their homes in lower areas. One county family had to be rescued by boat in the Brown’s Grove area near 31st and Kasold. Numerous power outages occurred and hail was reported, though not the slashing type of a few days earlier.
