Atlanta’s Joneses miss third consecutive starts

? Andruw Jones and Chipper Jones were held out of the Atlanta Braves’ starting lineup for the third straight game Tuesday night.

Manager Bobby Cox said Andruw Jones also would miss today’s game against the Florida Marlins with a sore back, while Chipper Jones could be available as a pinch hitter as he recovers from a strained left oblique muscle.

Before the game, Andruw Jones said he wouldn’t try to swing a bat before Thursday, but he struck out as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning on Tuesday. Both players are hoping to be ready for the series against the New York Mets, which begins Friday night.

Wilson Betemit and Ryan Langerhans started again at third base and center field, respectively, Tuesday night.
