There had been five applicants for the spot on the Lawrence school board vacated when Bob Davis had resigned because he was moving to Liberty, Mo. The applicants were Norman Gates, Jim Dwyer, Ronald Schmidt, Donald McDow and Daniel Hayes. The board planned to interview the prospects and then vote on the successor.
