The Knights of Columbus Council 12960 announces officers for the fraternal year that began July 1. Those elected were: T.A. Mindrup, grand knight; Mark Wertin, deputy grand knight; Ken Baldwin, chancellor; Don Boucher, recorder; Todd York, treasurer: Pete Schneider, advocate; John Anderson, warden; Bernard Judge, inside guard; Jim Lock, outside guard; Lawrence Rymer, trustee for one year; Stephen Rockers, trustee for two years; and Bernie Antes, trustee for three years.

Kappa Kappa Gamma’s Omega chapter at Kansas University received several awards at the fraternity’s 66th biennial convention in June in Salt Lake City.

The Omega chapter received the Panhellenic Award for the chapter best exemplifying true Panhellenic leadership, participation in and support of Panhellenic-sponsored events, and displaying a cooperative and responsible attitude in working with the administration and other Greek groups as the representative of Kappa Kappa Gamma. The chapter also received four Honorable Mention Awards for advisory board, standards, technology and recruitment.

Four Lawrence residents attended the convention: Kristi Bradley Rowland, Zeta province director of chapters; Jannie Thomas Barron, president of the Lawrence Alumnae Assn.; Katie Loyd, marshal of the KU chapter; and Amanda Galyardt, vice president of organization of the Kansas State University chapter.

Also representing the KU chapter were Laura Davis, Saint Jacob, Ill.; Julie Niggle, Overland Park; Betsy Proffitt, Salt Lake City; Jessica Barnthouse, Leawood; and Melanie McGinley, Overland Park.

About 100 Lawrence Lodge No. 6 members and local community guests participated in the 150th year celebration of the Lodge on July 15. There was a lunch, and the Lecompton Re-enactors gave a presentation. Arthur L. Queen received a 50-year award, and J. Howard Duncan and Henry L. Johns earned 25-year awards.
