Maureen Elizabeth Warren has won the 2006-2007 Kansas University Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender Leadership Scholarship for her leadership roles in Queers & Allies, a KU student organization, as well as for her academic merit. This is the second year that Warren has received the scholarship.
Allison Hansen-Warren, a 2006 KU School of Social Welfare graduate, has won the 2006 Christine Robinson Queer of the Year Award for her work for LGBT education and awareness in the Lawrence community.

Nate and Allison Burghart, Lawrence, announce the birth of their son, Hudson Douglas Burghart, born July 10, 2006, in Overland Park. He has a sister, Isabella Jewel Burghart, 2. Maternal grandparents are Mike and Debby Kelso, Overland Park. Paternal grandparents are Jon and Mary Burghart, Derby. Great-grandparents are Gaylord and June Ransdell, Overland Park.

Matthew Taylor, Lawrence, graduated from the University of Arkansas during the spring 2006 term.

Sarah Szabo, daughter of Robert and Margo Szabo, Lawrence, has been named to the 2005-2006 Lawrence University dean’s list by maintaining at least a 3.4 grade-point average. She is a 2003 graduate of Lawrence High School.

Annie Young Merriam has been notified that she is a life member of the Magna Charta Dames. Annie also is a life member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is a past regent of the local Betty Washington chapter.
