Officials continued to probe the Kansas City Hyatt Regency skywalk collapse which killed 114 and injured some 200. No final conclusions had been reached about the cause of the tragedy, and theories and speculation were running rampant as officials tried to determine exactly what had happened.

Gary Toebben, 33, took over as the new executive vice president of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce. He succeeded Glenn West, who had moved to Macon, Ga. Toebben came here from the North Platte, Neb., professional leadership job.
