Mercury high in some Colorado fish
Recent warnings to limit consumption of fish taken from two Colorado reservoirs because of mercury concerns do not apply to all species of fish in those lakes.
In mid-June, Colorado public health officials issued consumption advisories on fish caught at Vallecito Reservoir near Durango and Brush Hollow Reservoir near Cañon City.
The advisories provide warnings only for consumption of northern pike and walleye taken from Vallecito and walleye taken from Brush Hollow.
Other fish caught at these reservoirs, including trout, kokanee salmon, bass, yellow perch and bluegill are not affected. However, not all species were tested.
