Michael Krumm participated in American Legion Boys State of Kansas, which was June 11-17 at Kansas State University. Michael, who will be a senior at Lawrence High School in the fall, was one of nearly 500 boys who attended the government and leadership program.

Pittsburg State University announces area students who made the spring 2006 semester honor roll.

Students who made the dean’s list by earning at least a 3.6 grade-point average were Kristin Messer, Erica Ogle and Jeremiah Pant, Baldwin; Jacqueline Pyle, Cecilia Stumpff, James Blades, David Grote, Jennifer Durkin and Julie White, Eudora; Neva Gardner, McLouth; Michelle McCullough, Oskaloosa; Kimberly Florey, Jaime Walker and Joshua Ingold, Ottawa; and Matthew Gripka and Jeffrey Gibbens, Tonganoxie.

Students who made all As were Katie Krysztof and Daley Leintz, Baldwin; Leanne Wilson, De Soto; Deborah Brockway and Fawn Mace, Ottawa; Emery Baughan, Overbrook; and Lisa Holton, Tonganoxie.

Katrina Kline, Lawrence, made the dean’s list at the University of Evansville, Evansville, Ind., by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average. Katrina is the daughter of Larry and Helen Kline, Lawrence.

Doug Loveland and Amy Beets Loveland, Overland Park, announce the birth of their daughter Georgia Cathleen Loveland, born June 9, 2006, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

She has a brother, Reese Loveland, 6, and a sister, Sofia Loveland, 3.

Maternal grandparents are Phil and Lynn Beets, Lawrence. Paternal grandparents are Chuck and Mary Loveland, Lawrence. Great-grandmother is Iris Faust, Derby.

Braxton Nottingham, Lawrence, is among 40 high school students who received a scholarship from Hy-Vee Food & Drug Store. Nottingham, who will attend Oklahoma State University this fall, was chosen for a $1,000 award because of his academic achievements and demonstrated interest in school and community activities.

Brett Myrick, Baldwin, has been named to the president’s list at Drake University. Myrick achieved the academic honor by earning a straight-A grade-point average of 4.0 during the spring 2006 semester at Drake.

The Kansas Sheriff’s Assn. has announced that John Brown, Baldwin, is a recipient of a $1,000 scholarship. The KSA gave up to eight $1,000 scholarships and one Matthew Samuels scholarship for $2,000 in 2006. The recipients may pursue any course or field of study he or she chooses.

Eric Murray recently completed an extensive 22-week basic law enforcement course at the Kansas Highway Patrol’s Training Academy in Salina. William Seck, superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has assigned Murray to Johnson and Wyandotte counties. Murray graduated from Tonganoxie High School. Before becoming a trooper, Murray was an assistant superintendent at Alvamar Country Club.

Edna Buttler, a former trooper in the Lawrence area, has been promoted to technical trooper in Topeka, where she works in the Support Services Section. She has been a child safety seat technician since 2003.

Julia Ellena, Lawrence, received a Bachelor of Science in athletic training from Oklahoma State University in May.
