¢ Hummers State Champs: Lawrence Hummers won the state American Fastpitch Assn. U-18 title last weekend in Basehor by posting a 7-0 record. Karen Spence was the winning pitcher in five of the games. Summer Mulford was the winning pitcher in the other two. Other team members are Brooke Abney, Livi Abney, Maggie Hull, Rosie Hull, Aleese Kopf, Kayley Lane, Katherine Smith, Laura Williams, Heather Sundburg and Haley Breitenbach. Coaches are Keith Spence, Bryan Wagner and Barry Sprow.

¢ Kickball Meeting: An organizational meeting for city adult kickball will be at 7 p.m. next Wednesday at the Community Building. Also, late registration for adult fall slow-pitch will end on Friday. For information, call 832-7920 or go to www.lprd.org.

¢ Stagg Titlist: Bud Stagg fired a one-over-par 73 and won Saturday’s Jayhawk Golf Club tournament at Alvamar Golf Course by two strokes over Van Reichart. Mike Naegele, Scot Buxton and Tom Zacharias shared third place, all with 80s. In net scoring, Robert Ward was low with a 66, followed by Sean Claycamp 70 and David Davison and Bob Losasso, both with 71s.

¢ U-16 Phenix Shines: Lawrence Phenix-Fyler U-16 won the state ASA tournament in Junction City and finished third in the AFA state meet in Basehor. Team members include Hannah Somers, Michelle Bowman, Jordan Van Houtan, Dequesne Sprow, Jordan Kruse, Sam Hays and Brittaney Krug. The coach is Randy Fyler.

¢ Southwest Football: Southwest Junior High football camp for incoming freshmen and eighth-graders will be from 9-11:30 a.m. next Monday through Thursday at the Bulldogs’ field. For information, call Skip Bennett at 691-5955.

¢ Comets Contingent: Lawrence’s Taylor Bussinger, Greg Glatz and Andrew Heck play on the U-16 Southwest United Comets soccer team that won the 3-on-3 Arrowhead Classic and qualified for regionals in Vail, Colo.

¢ U-10 Phenix Sparkles: Lawrence Phenix U-10 softball won the Best of K.C. Tournament in Shawnee and placed second in the Field of Dreams meet in Basehor. Team members are Caitlin Broadwell, Marly Carmona, Kaley Delg, Kaitlin Jorgensen, Lindsay Kelly, A’Liyah Rogers, Hailey Cope, Callie Enick, Madison Hess, Whitney Rothwell and Elizabeth Seimears.
