State Rep. Tom Sloan, R-Lawrence, has been appointed to the Kansas Energy Council.

The council was recently reorganized by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to include more state agencies and six legislators.

Sloan was appointed by House Speaker Doug Mays, R-Topeka.

Last year, Sloan chaired a House-Senate energy panel, and he has been a leading advocate on energy matters.
