Relatively cool temperatures for July are staying around for one more day, says Matt Sayers, 6News meteorologist

“The high today is topping out at 86 degrees – comfortable for this time of year,” Sayers said.

The average high temperature for this date is 90 degrees. The record high was 106 degrees, set in 1939.

Skies will be somewhat cloudy this morning, with high and mid-level clouds “giving the sky a milky look,” he said. Winds will be from the southeast at 10 to 15 mph, he said.

At 7:45 a.m., Lawrence Municipal Airport’s temperature was 62 degrees, the humidity was 78 percent and winds were out of the east at 5 mph.

Today’s morning low was 60 degrees. The average low temperature for this date is 69 degrees. The record low was 55 degrees, set in 2004.

Overnight, temperatures will drop to 59 degrees by Saturday morning, he said.

Saturday’s high temperature will be 90 degrees with partly cloudy skies he said, he said.

Sunday brings a slight chance of thunderstorms, he said. Sunday’s morning low will be 66 degrees, climbing to a high of 91 on Sunday afternoon, he said.
