Phenix win state: The 14-U Lawrence Phenix girls fast pitch team won the Kansas ASA 14B State Tournament in Topeka, KS June 30-July 2. Team members are Anna Mages, Ottawa; Kylee Mader, Paola; Haley Finucane and Calleigh Durr, Baldwin; Allison Hoover, Madison Oller, and Bailey Scott, Eudora; and Lexi Smith, Kacie Welborn, Allison Ice, Jamie Morgison, and Maddy Wilson, Lawrence. The coaches are Bill Finucane, Baldwin, Lee Ice, Lawrence and Marv Oller, Eudora.

¢ Crosstown Unity Run: The Crosstown Unity Run will be held at 8:00 am on Saturday, August 5th. This is a 10k run and 2 x 5k Relay, starting at Free State HS and ending at Lawrence HS. ¢ Holm holes ace: David Holm of Topeka scored a hole-in-one from 140 yards with an 8-iron Tuesday on No. 13 at Eagle Bend Golf Course. Witnesses were Dan Heptig, Greg Sims and Greg Miller.

¢ Abbott double eagle: Brian Abbott holed out from 150 yards with an 8-iron Saturday on No. 2 at Alvamar Public for a double-eagle. Witnesses were Scott Bouyack, Jason Prier and John Gillis.

¢ Kent sets record: Bob Kent set a Missouri Valley record in the 50 yard butterfly and took four 1st places in the Missouri State Senior Games. Neil Salkind took seven first places.

¢ LAGA Tourneys: Lawrence Amateur Golf Assn. will stage its Men's Open, Senior Open and Women's Open July 8 at Eagle Bend and July 9 at Alvamar. For information, go to Entry forms are available at Golf USA.
