Cardinals acquire Angels’ Weaver

? The Los Angeles Angels traded disappointing right-hander Jeff Weaver to the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday night for minor-league outfielder Terry Evans. Weaver, 29, was designated for assignment by the Angels last Friday after going 6-10 with a 6.29 earned-run average in 16 starts this season. He signed a one-year, $8.3 million contract with Los Angeles as a free agent during the offseason.

The Angels called up Weaver’s 23-year-old brother, Jered, from Triple-A Salt Lake last Friday to replace him in the rotation and on the roster.
