Opportunities available to help disabled residents

Trinity In-Home Care has volunteer positions available to help local residents with disabilities.

One volunteer is needed to assist a man who is legally blind with reading, using the stove for meal preparation and sorting clothing. Commitment is one to two hours per week.

Another volunteer is needed to help a local woman with cognitive impairments organize and sort items in her home. Time commitment is two to four hours per week. For more information, contact Kelly at 842-3159 or kelly@trinityinhomecare.com.

Immediate volunteer needs:

¢ Ballard Community Center needs two volunteers to unload a truck filled with food and commodities from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 19. Volunteers must be able to lift and carry a 20-pound box.

¢ Independence Inc. seeks one or two volunteers to assist a disabled client paint the inside of an apartment. Volunteers must have painting experience. Paint will be provided, but brush donations would be appreciated. For more information, contact Susan Mikesic at 841-0333.

¢ The Lawrence Meals on Wheels program is in need of volunteer drivers to assist with meal delivery for a recently established delivery route Volunteers serve lunch to homebound community members who are elderly and/or disabled. Driver positions are available each day of the week. Route delivery takes 45 minutes. For more information, call Kim Culliss at 979-1440.
