Not many able to take day off before Fourth

Today has become one of the hottest days of 2006, and it’s not because of the weather. The coveted day is the bridge between the weekend and the Fourth of July.

Most companies will consider Monday just another working day, much to the dismay of employees who weren’t quick enough to request time off.

About 29 percent of employers will give their employees both July 3 and 4 off as paid holidays, according to a survey by JobKite.com, a Florida-based job site, said Heather Galler, JobKite’s chief executive.

Employees who hope to avoid missing out on the next Monday bridge day to July 4 will have time to prepare. Independence Day falls on a Tuesday again in 2017.
