Baylor blown away
Baton Rouge, La. ? LSU turned a Final Four rematch into a resounding rout.
Seimone Augustus scored 29, leading the third-ranked Lady Tigers to a 88-57 victory Monday night over No. 10 Baylor.
Augustus was 13-of-21 from the field as the Lady Tigers (18-1) scored their fourth-highest point total of the season. She was one of four LSU players to score in double figures.
“Usually when I give my opening statement, I can find something that’s wrong,” LSU coach Pokey Chatman said. “But, there wasn’t a whole lot tonight. I think the energy and the execution led to so much offensively and defensively. And, I was pleased how we extended it for close to 40 minutes.”
Sophia Young was the top scorer for Baylor (15-4) with 17 points – all but four in the second half. Angela Tisdale had 13 points for the defending national champion Lady Bears, who beat LSU, 68-57, in the Final Four on the way to their first title.
Baylor’s three previous losses this season had been by a total of eight points.
“That team is good enough to win a national championship,” Baylor coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson said.
