Attorney Jack Brand was elected new president of the United Fund here, succeeding banker George Ryan.

The State Purchasing Division in Topeka advertised for bids on Feb. 17 on the proposed 6,500-seat addition to the east side of Kansas University’s Memorial Stadium. The project was to expand the seating capacity to 51,500 or thereabouts, depending on temporary seating arrangements for special occasions.
