Coggins, K-State edge ISU

? Claire Coggins had 21 points Sunday to lead Kansas State past Iowa State, 73-64, in Big 12 Conference women’s basketball.

The Wildcats (15-4, 5-3) jumped to a 40-27 halftime lead, then stretched the margin to 53-29 five minutes into the second half. Iowa State rallied to pull within eight at 59-51 with 4:37 left in the game, but could get no closer.

Marlies Gipson had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Kansas State, while Shalee Lehning and JoAnn Hamlin had 11 points each for the Wildcats.

Lyndsey Medders led all scorers with 30 points for Iowa State (12-6, 3-4), and Brittany Wilkins added 19 points. No other Cyclone player had more than six points.
