Three American clergymen, one of them from Lawrence, who had conducted Easter services in Tehran the past year misrepresented the conditions of the captives and were considered sympathetic to the Iranian captors, according to several former U.S. hostages, now freed. Joseph Hall, Robert Blucker and William Gallegos told CBS the clerics’ visit didn’t help the captives or the country. The Lawrence minister was the Rev. Jack Bremer, director of Ecumenical Christian Ministries in Lawrence. He denied the charges.
