Wichita — Kansas Newman hit 31 of 40 free throws and defeated Haskell Indian Nations University, 83-74, Saturday in women's college basketball.
"It's kind of a frustrating loss," Haskell coach Phil Homeratha said.
Kortney Smith led the Fightin' Indians with 11 points.
Haskell (10-10) will play host Friday to Omaha St. Marys.
Newman 66, Haskell men 53
Wichita - Wacy Weeks scored 19, and Lonnie Favel added 13, but HINU couldn't overcome a slow start.
