Sidewalk safety

To the editor:

I support the city keeping the sidewalks repaired. It’s a good use of tax dollars to keep our city safe for travel. Residents initially paid for the walks as a benefit district so it’s not like taxpayers have not made a contribution. It’s more of a safety issue, and I would think – obviously I don’t know – our city could be held liable. I do know people who walk and/or jog in the streets due to a more “level” surface. I am assuming that is why a certain person in a wheelchair frequently uses the street on east 13th Street.

Children certainly need a level surface to run, trike and bike.

By the way, a weed eater and blower can certainly clear a walk of organic matter in a reasonable amount of time.
