Bears end road woes at Cyclones’ expense

? Sophia Young had 17 points and 11 rebounds, Angela Tisdale added 17 points, and No. 9 Baylor beat Iowa State, 79-64, Wednesday night for its first conference road victory of the season.

Baylor (14-3, 4-3 Big 12) – which shot 11-of-23 on three-pointers and outrebounded the Cyclones 50-39 – took the lead midway through the first half and never looked back against one of the league’s top home teams.

Lyndsey Medders had 29 points for Iowa State (12-5, 3-3), which lost at Hilton Coliseum for the second time in 24 games.

Baylor’s Chameka Scott picked up her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

The Cyclones pulled within 10 twice in the second half, 46-36 and 63-53, but the Bears kept a number of possessions alive with offensive rebounds that led to baskets.

Scott capped a 14-6 run with a pair of three-pointers to give Baylor a 60-42 lead. After the Cyclones fought their way back within 10, the Bears quickly jumped ahead 69-55.

No. 13 Oklahoma 75, Texas 57

Norman, Okla. – Freshman Courtney Paris had a career-high 32 points and 16 rebounds for her 12th straight double-double to lead the Sooners.

Oklahoma (16-4, 6-0 Big 12) extended its winning streak to four games – a run that includes a road victory at defending national champion Baylor – and maintained its commanding lead in the conference race.

Texas (10-7, 4-3) had a four-game winning streak snapped.
