Repair workshop set for original windows

Lawrence craftsmen Mike Goans and Dennis Brown will educate owners of old and historic properties about the value – through energy efficiency and the potential for financial incentives – of repairing and restoring original windows.

The Old House Window Workshop, sponsored by the Lawrence Preservation Alliance, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the auditorium at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt. It is free and open to the public.

Organizers say that repairing a window actually can be more energy-efficient than installing a new one. Such work also can help preserve a property’s eligibility for historic designation, making it eligible for tax credits.
