Old Home Town

The Rev. Fred Hollomon of Lawrence seemed to be able to mix religion and politics better than most. He had worked for a number of years in the Kansas Legislature as a political aide before becoming a full-time minister in Lawrence. Then in 1978, he had become the official Kansas Senate chaplain. Hollomon left Lawrence every afternoon the Senate was in session to drive to Topeka to read the daily invocation designed to set the tone for the day’s business. He wrote invocations himself and many of them had become quite popular for requote.
