Dreary start, but sunshine expected in afternoon
If you don’t like Mondays, this morning’s weather wasn’t helping much – cold temperatures and thick clouds covered the Lawrence area.
“It’s kind of a dreary start on your way out, with some patchy fog,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. However, today’s temperatures will climb into the 40s and the clouds will move out, Schack said.
“Eventually this afternoon, the sunshine will return,” she said.
At 12:10 a.m., the temperature was 34 degrees, the humidity was 89 percent and winds were from the southwest at 6 mph, making the windchill 29 degrees.
Today’s high will climb to 44 degrees, with west-southwest winds at 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight, skies will be mostly clear, with the low dropping to 28 degrees by early Tuesday morning, Schack said. Tuesday’s afternoon high will be 56 degrees with mostly sunny skies and 5 to 10 mph winds from the northwest, she said.
Wednesday’s morning low will be 28 degrees, with the high climbing to 58 degrees on Wednesday afternoon and mostly sunny skies, Schack said.
