Brain scan shows no change in Sharon

? A scan of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s brain Sunday showed no change from a week ago, hospital officials said.

Doctors at Hadassah Hospital, where the 77-year-old Sharon is being treated, ordered the new brain scan earlier Sunday.

Sharon has been comatose since a Jan. 4 stroke, which caused severe bleeding in the brain. Scans last week showed that the remnants of blood in his brain had been absorbed.

Sharon was put in an induced coma to heal from three brain operations, but he remains unconscious after being weaned off sedatives last week.

Outside medical experts say Sharon’s failure to regain consciousness bodes poorly for his prospects of recovery. Sharon deputy Ehud Olmert has been acting prime minister.
