Highlights from the Kansas Legislature

Highlights of Wednesday’s activities at the Kansas Legislature:

– The Senate Ways and Means Committee endorsed a bill creating an office of inspector general to focus on allegations of Medicaid fraud and waste.

– The Senate unanimously confirmed three dozen gubernatorial appointments, including Gary Daniels to head the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services.

Also:

– Rep. Eric Carter, R-Overland Park, said that on Friday he will kick off his GOP primary campaign to unseat Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger.

– Gov. Kathleen Sebelius says she will attend President Bush’s speech at Kansas State University on Monday.
