Another mild day ahead

Cold front bringing rain, snow on Friday

Lawrence will get sunshine this morning, with mild, spring-like temperatures this afternoon.

“We’ll soar up to around 60 degrees,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

But a cold front will be moving in Friday, bringing rain and even some light snow on Friday afternoon, Schack said.

At 7:40 a.m., Lawrence’s temperature was 37 degrees, the humidity was 54 percent and winds were calm. Skies were mostly clear this morning.

“We will have sunshine to begin today, then clouds returning this afternoon,” Schack said. Southwest winds will be from 8 to 15 mph, she said..

Friday’s morning temperature will start at 32 degrees and climb to a high of 36 degrees, she said.

Rain and possibly a thunderstorm will move into the Lawrence area about noon and change over to light snow about 3 p.m., lasting through about 6 p.m., she said.

The highest chance for accumulation totals will be off to the north of Lawrence, Schack said.

Saturday’s morning low will be 27 degrees, with the high climbing to 44 degrees. Skies will be mostly sunny.
