To date, more than $200,000 had been pledged in the $1 million fund drive being conducted by the Kansas School of Religion, according to development director Paul Shivel.

Construction progress was reported as “good” on the natatorium at Kansas University’s new physical education building east of Allen Fieldhouse. The swimming pool wing was to cost $423,000.

The Lawrence Jaycees had obtained a house to set up and refurbish as an official Achievement Place for Boys. The venture proved to be quite a success and a major benefit to the community.
